Good Monday

Psalms 84:10

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

The couple decided to visit the local Baptist church. They were told to sit anywhere they liked. They went down the aisle halfway and sat on the right side.

Five minutes later- there was an older couple standing in the isle beside them. They didn’t say “Welcome” and they didn’t introduce themselves.

Instead- they said those magic and loving Baptist words:

“You’re sitting in our pew.”

If you’ve ever wondered why churches are dying- wonder no more. That couple moved to a different pew- stayed for worship- and never came back.

Why do you go to church? For you? To sit in “your spot”? Or do you go to feel the presence of the Lord? His Spirit resides in every room of the church- not just the sanctuary.

If you could only stand in the foyer and worship- would you? Would you thank God for the opportunity to be in His house?

It is an honor to be in the house of God. It’s not about you at all. It’s all about Him.
