Good Wednesday
Luke 20:25
“And He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
You may not like our current government. You may not like our leaders. You may not like paying taxes in two weeks. But you will never hate all of this like the Israelites hated the Roman government.
They had no say. They had no vote.
They were stuck.
And then- when it came to paying taxes- they had to deal with corrupt tax collectors who charged them too much and kept the difference for themselves.
Then here comes Jesus who tells them to pay their taxes. The scribes and chief priests wanted to catch Jesus in saying something they could use against Him. But again- they failed.
Jesus’ words were for them and for us.
We are to honor God with our tithes and we are to honor God by paying our taxes.
